Argus Panoramic Night Vision Goggles (APNVG): Expanding Your Field of Vision to 100 Degrees with Unmatched Clarity and Calibration
- Panoramic Field of View (FOV): The Argus APNVG (Argus Panoramic Night Vision Goggles) increases a user’s FOV from a typical 40-degree monocular or binocular system up to 100 degrees, offering enhanced situational awareness.
- Four Image Intensifier Tubes: Utilizes four image intensifier tubes without reducing system resolution or compromising collimation.
- Depth Perception and Stereoscopic Vision: The two central tubes are parallel, providing better depth perception and increased perceived resolution for stereoscopic vision.
- Enhanced Peripheral Vision: The two side tubes provide additional peripheral views, resulting in three seamlessly merged circular images.
- Assembly and Calibration: Assembled and calibrated on Hoffman Engineering ANV-126A with a custom PNVG collimation adapter in a dust-free, NVG clean room. Vacuum tested and nitrogen purged to ensure waterproofness.
- High-Resolution Lenses: Equipped with high-resolution lenses and a fully collimating lens system.
- Waterproof: Waterproof up to 2 meters for 30 minutes.
- 5-Year Warranty: Comes with a 5-year warranty against manufacturing defects (physical damage and improper assembly/disassembly are not covered).

What is the field of view (FOV) provided by the Argus APNVG?
The Argus APNVG offers a panoramic field of view of 100 degrees, significantly greater than the typical 40 degrees provided by conventional monocular or binocular systems.
How is the APNVG powered?
The APNVG is powered by an external battery pack, specifically the Argus Universal Strobe Battery Pack (USBP), which is included in each APNVG combo set.
What is the warranty on the Argus APNVG?
The Argus APNVG comes with a 5-year warranty against manufacturing defects. However, damages caused by improper usage or user assembly/disassembly are not covered.
Is the APNVG waterproof?
Yes, the APNVG is waterproof up to 2 meters for more than 30 minutes, ensuring reliability in various environmental conditions.
How does the APNVG provide enhanced vision?
The APNVG uses four image intensifier tubes to provide an expanded and seamless field of view. The central tubes offer depth perception and stereoscopic vision, while the side tubes offer additional peripheral vision.
How are the APNVGs tested for quality and performance?
Each APNVG is assembled and calibrated using a Hoffman Engineering ANV-126A device with a custom-made panoramic collimation adapter. They undergo vacuum testing and nitrogen purging to ensure water-proofing and are inspected thoroughly before shipment.
Why is it not recommended to use rechargeable batteries in Argus Panos?
Rechargeable batteries are prone to leaking, which can cause significant damage to the sensitive electronics and components within night vision goggles. This leakage can result in malfunctions or even complete failure of the device.
What type of batteries should I use for my Argus Pano?
It is highly recommended to use lithium batteries for night vision goggles. Lithium batteries are more stable and less likely to leak, ensuring the longevity and optimal performance of your night vision equipment.
What should I do if my Argus PNVG-18 doesn't turn on?
If your PNVG 18 are not turning on, follow these steps:
- Check the Battery Orientation: Ensure that the batteries are inserted correctly. The direction of the batteries must match the device’s specified orientation.
- Replace with New Batteries: If the batteries are inserted correctly and the device still does not power on, replace them with brand new batteries. Often, the issue is due to depleted batteries.
What are dark spots on intensifier tubes, and what are the different zones?
Dark spots are small black dots you might see when looking through night vision goggles (NVGs). They occur because of tiny imperfections in the intensifier tube, which helps amplify light to let you see in the dark. These spots don’t usually affect how well you can see. Intensifier tubes have three zones:
-
Zone 1: The central area where you look the most. It’s the clearest part.
-
Zone 2: The middle ring around Zone 1. This zone might have a few more imperfections.
-
Zone 3: The outer edge. This zone can have the most imperfections, but it doesn’t affect your view much because it’s on the edges.
The fewer dark spots an NVG has, the higher its quality and price. NVGs with almost no dark spots are typically more expensive because they have better intensifier tubes. However, a few dark spots are normal, and as long as they don’t block your view too much, your NVGs should work just fine.
